Lindsay S. Gibson

Lindsay completed his Ph.D. in the Centre of Historical Consciousness in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of British Columbia in July 2014. His doctoral dissertation "Understanding Ethical Judgments in Secondary School History Classes" examined secondary school teachers’ and students’ approaches to ethical judgments about a controversial event in Canadian history.

He taught secondary school history and social studies for ten years in School District No. 23 (Kelowna, British Columbia) where he currently works as a teacher on the district Instructional Leadership Team. Lindsay has worked with the Historical Thinking Project since 2008 as a workshop presenter and member of the Executive Committee. He also works as a workshop presenter, writer, and editor for The Critical Thinking Consortium (TC²) where he has worked on a variety of history education curriculum projects.

Lindsay was part of the BC Ministry of Education Writing Team that drafted the new K-9 Draft Curriculum, and is currently consulting on the design of grade 5 and 10 curriculum for the Chinese Canadian Historical Wrongs Legacy Initiative.
